I was curious as to if I could pick your journalistic brain about a couple of things? It'd be a ginormous help!

[/Carlotta]

Rumour has it that the Hobgoblins might be putting out a new album. About time, I say. And it's gonna piss some people offffffff. Here I'd thought they'd fallen into obscurity and off the face of the earth.

Merlin, the things you young people consider listening to.

[Marlene]
Of course, my dear, do pick away!

Hey, the Hobgoblins are awesome! And not just because I know the band.

[Carlotta]

Well (off the record, as long as that is okay with you?) I was wondering how much has changed between the way the Prophet was this time last year, and how it's been since, oh... January? What are people's hours, has security changed at all? There haven't been any additional wings built for pumping out propaganda like there've been new wings set up in Mungo's for erm, "reformation", has there?

In my day we had music!

[Marlene]
Naturally. I do not print all of my conversations with people, there would be no fun in keeping a secret if that were the case.

While it may seem as if they could not possibly turn out the propaganda that they have with the old presses, the truth is that when one stops using one's resources to print the truth and uses it instead to print the truth as those who pull the strings wish it to be told, there are plenty of existing resources to do just that.

So far as hours and security. Well, it is a newspaper, there are still deadlines, and thus people do frequently tend to be in the offices up until the last call for stories. This is typically about ten pm and then the reporters trickle out about that time. The presses run from around 10 until 2 in the morning, and sometime after that they usually close. Around four is when the Owls arrive for delivery, so the only time the building is truly quiet is between about 2 and 4 am I would say - which, quiet is somewhat relative there, you understand.

And what do you call this?

[Carlotta]

Okay. Just double checking. My sister's husband had this habit of starting every conversation with "off the record" so I wanted to be sure it wasn't some sort of protocol and that it was just Cam being weird.

I understand.

So they've got people coming and going all the time, really, so they wouldn't have up any kind of freaky blood-based explosion wards like certain libraries that will be left nameless, I would think.

I want to give you a heads up from some of my sources (and I am supposed to let you know that Aberforth Dumbledore has the same sources, because he said to namedrop him when I talked to you) that if you have anything of value being kept in your desk at work, take it home asap. And as unobviously as possible if possible.

If you want to write some real journalism, though; none of this lame twisted truth that you've all been selling for a few months because of the gag order, I have an opportunity for you, as well as the ability to compensate you for your time/efforts.

I believe my Mother's term for it was 'noise'.

[Marlene]
It's never a bad habit to specify when one is speaking with a journalist.

I do not know of any of those sorts of wards. It is a newspress after all and the news must go out, even if it is less newsy and more celebratory. The principle does not die with intelligence.

Naturally. Fortunately, I'm quite good at an undetectable charm on a handbag.

As it appears I may be looking for a job in the near future, and so I might be interested in quite that opportunity.

I love my noise. Then again, I also thought that banging on pots when I was little could be considered making music, so...

[Carlotta]

Brilliant.

Unless you were planning on leaving via your own accord, I'm pretty sure that whatever my sources are telling me will only wind up being temporary. It wouldn't look good for our government to leave so many people out of work because there are people trying to get the REAL news out there.

I mean. Because those awful foreign terrorist struck again.

And this'll give you an opportunity to think of a really cool pen name.

The Daily Prophet has nearly always been for my own amusement, and frequently I have found it less than amusing. I may wish to turn some of my energies elsewhere for the long term, really.

And a lifelong dream of mine! Perhaps I shall have to put my interest in archaic literature to good use.

Think you could have something for me by the 29th? I'm thinking front page story-time, for anything that you wish you could report but our lovely new government won't let you.

I think I'd quite like to do that. I'm wondering about something about this rehabilitation project that Jo seems to have escaped from. It has been on my mind for the last few weeks.

Oh yes. The one where Fenrir Greyback and Tabitha Pryce have never actually been at, either, considering they were causing a ruckus at Hogwarts when Professor Dumbledore was killed. I know the one.

Oh, indeed? Perhaps we can have a conversation about this? As an unnamed source, obviously. I would not wish to put you in any danger for a piece, but as they have been two of the most vocal werewolf 'rehabilitation' projects, I would be most interested in any information you could give me that suggests they are not in fact within the programme.

Unnamed is good. I'm more worried about my friends' safety since I ran out of fa, and even if you DID use my name they'd probably just twist it and blame it on me having a past-based "vendetta" against them.

Pryce has an eyepatch now. I can tell you first hand she didn't get it from any injury she gave herself while transformed on the full.

You are a lioness, Marlene. I think Godric Gryffindor would be quite impressed.

Do you know anyone else that would be able to provide me with some information?

Oh wow. I certainly hope so, that would be rad.

Aberforth, definitely. Also I don't know if Jo would be willing to talk about what happened there yet, but you can try her. The Jo I know would want to get the real story out so that they don't do that to anyone else.

I shall have to talk to her and to Aberforth as well, I suppose.

Thank you for the assistance my dear.
